Schneider started work with the city in 2015 as chief operations officer for the Information Technology Department. Prior to moving to Bellevue, Schneider had a long career with technology in the state of Washington, both in government and education. For three years, she worked in the Information Technology Department in the city of Seattle, and before that, she taught technology communications classes at the University of Washington.
“I’m honored to lead the Information Technology Department, and I look forward to continuing to work with the exceptional professionals in the department and in the city,” Schneider said. “I’m also excited to work with Bellevue’s technology-savvy community to support Bellevue’s smart cities work and to continue advancing technologies that help make government services more accessible and inclusive.”
Schneider, who earned her bachelor's degree in multimedia communications from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington, will begin serving as the head of Bellevue’s IT Department immediately; she will focus on open data platforms and Smart City initiatives, and everything in between.
