In its 20th year, the annual Best of the Web (BOW) awards recognize city, county and state governments for outstanding portals and websites based on innovation, functionality, productivity and performance. This year’s first-place BOW winners are the City of Independence, Missouri; Sacramento County, California; and the State of Arkansas in the state category, a first-place winner also in 2011.
The Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) highlight outstanding agency and department websites and applications. Awards were presented in eight categories this year.
“These winners are recognized for responsive and mobile-first design, open government, open data, improved transparency and integration with social media,” said Todd Sander, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “Congratulations to the awardees for their impressive work to make government more accessible and responsive to citizens.”
